Every child should be so lucky

I have always believed in the importance of reading and, more specifically, doing research into something about which you have a question. Mind you, I don’t always do it, but I do think it’s essential. Too often, when we encounter an issue about which we could garner factual information, we rush to hasty conclusions based on our preconceived emotional sacred cows. That’s fine for the little things, I suppose; but when the issue is of significance, I think people should stop, take a breath, and turn to some authortative source for more information.

That’s why I am so grateful to Erin this morning. Last weekend, Maggie went, literally overnight, from multiple bowel movements each day to one a day or even less. Many people, perhaps understandably, would freak out a little and begin to worry; not my Erin, the consumate all-things-baby researcher. She picked up one of her books and discovered that many breastfed babies, beginning sometime around one to three months, will stop pooping so much, even skipping multiple days. Strangely, it’s normal for some babies to keep on pooping the same amount…I guess it’s all the luck of the draw.

I am so happy, thankful, and proud to be married to such an awesome woman and mother. She has far exceeded all expectations I had for her as a mother and, in my mind, has set the standard. It’s not just the research thing…there are so many other ways and things she does that amaze me.
