Those damn reindeer put a hole in the roof!

Merry Christmas to y’all. This one is pretty significant for us because it is the first Maggie can sort of understand, at least from the ripping off of gift wrapping perspective. She obviously has no idea as to why people make such a big deal of it…frankly, neither do I.
Anyway, one of the really cool things is that Mom and Asa were able to make the trip out here for the holiday. So, not only have they been able to spend some time with Maggie but they have also finally been exposed to this little home of ours, which we *love* so much. One of the very unexpected things to occur during their visit is how Maggie has taken to Asa. Not only has she been scared of men in the past but she also has a big problem with facial hair; she really seemed scared and weird around my Dad and the only conclusion we can come to is that it’s because of his beard. Asa, as per his usual, has grown a full beard for the winter but is missing a mustache; yes, he appears distinctly Amish. Point is, we all fully expected her to run away in terror and never thought she would care that his name is ‘Pappy.’ Well, much to everyone’s surprise, she began, after a matter of a couple hours, to not only hug on him and cling to him but she also asked where her Pappy was. We were somewhere yesterday (the first day we all spent together) and she turned around, pointed and said, “Pappy?” She didn’t want to go where we were headed without him. Very surprising, indeed.
Gifts were abundant this morning. One of the more significant, emotionally and financially, was Erin’s KitchenAid Mixer. She has wanted one for a very long time but we just couldn’t afford it. Her Mom, Dad, and brother were very generous and bought her one. Check out the pictures on the right to see a comical take on it. Maggie also really made out. One thing she got was her first bike, a Radio Flyer tricycle. Check out the Flickr pictures to see a very good one of her sitting on it. It’ll take a little time for her to build the leg strength and get the coordination to get it going but she’ll blazing trails soon, I’m sure. Here’s a video of her opening it.
