Raising Us

Our evolution, herein contained

Little bit of randomness

There won’t be much of a point to this post…just felt like writing.

Erin found a recipe for bagels yesterday. If she has a hobby, it’s cooking, specifically baking. I was pretty impressed because bagels can’t be an easy thing to make. They turned out okay, definitely worth another try. Anyway, the point here is the conversation we had in the aftermath. If you’ve ever made bread, you’ll understand her comments. She was talking about how women in the ‘old days’ must have been pretty fit doing all the work associated with living without all of our modern conveniences. It’s no wonder we are experiencing national epidemics of obesity, laziness, and a declining work ethic. We have tools to help us do everything and make our lives supposedly easier. What are we losing as a consequence?

On a completely unrelated note, they are in the process of recruiting ‘Religious Exploration’ (i.e. Sunday school) teachers at church. I gave some thought to it and decided to give it a try. I don’t know what age group yet as I told the woman in charge to use me to fill one of her more critical gaps. I don’t expect it will be too difficult because: I’ll be working with a team, so we won’t necessarily have to make the trip to Boise every week which is good with winter coming; I teach for a living, so I have some skill already; the curriculum is ready-made for the teachers; and I love kids (moreso than adults on most days). I don’t get much out of the services on most Sundays, so maybe this will give me some spiritual fulfillment.
