Cowgirl gets her first ride

You know what they say: When in Rome, do what the Romans do. We had the chance to follow that age-old advice last. We went to the 2d Annual Daniel Dopps Memorial PRCA Rodeo here in Mountain Home. It was the first time for all of us and we had a lot of fun. Our big motivation for going was to expose Maggie to animals she has never seen before. From the get-go, she really got into the horses, calves, etc. that were all over the place. Not only did she get into them, she actually got onto one.

We were just walking along, pointing out the horses to Maggie, when the cowboy in the video started talking to us and asked Maggie if she would like a ride. I looked at Erin to make sure it was okay (I have found that is sort of required) and she was all for it. Maggie, for her part seemed kind of dumb-founded all the way up there. Erin was so surprised by how nice the guy was, she’s still talking about him.
We then moved on, found our spot, and tried to enjoy the rest of the action. Sadly, Maggie, being the kind of baby she is, refused to sit still for too long and obviously could not be running around on own accord. This meant we were chasing her for a while, which got to be a little onerous. We left after about 90 good minutes. It was a good time and we will definitely try to make it again next year when Maggie will be a little older and better able to appreciate what’s going on.
