*Closer to Fine by Indigo Girls. This duo is, objectively, really good. They defined folk music in the 90’s and really reached a lot of people with their music and lyrics. Erin really likes them; I, however, never really got into them.

In a distinct departure from our norm, we have spent part of the last two Sunday mornings in church. This particular church is not of the sort most people think, however. We are not of any normal, easy to categorize religious belief; Erin’s dad states it wonderfully when he says he is ‘agnostic with atheist tendencies.’ That said, Erin especially has been feeling a longing to fill this spiritual gap in our lives and found the Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

The evaluation thus far is positive, for the most part. In the immediate, Maggie does fairly well in their nursery, a primary concern and potential show-stopper. The congregation’s beliefs are well-suited to our own. It is a drive to get there, about a full hour. The people seem really nice, not pushy at all. We (me especially) haven’t really gotten anything out of the sermons as yet. The service seems chaotic at times and doesn’t really give me a sense of calm contemplation that I would really like to have. As a really excellent bonus, both times we’ve gone, they’ve had a cake and coffee social thing afterward; the cake is phenomenal and the coffee is fair trade. As of right now, the plan is to continue going; it is, after all, the only option people like us have for congregating.
