TwoWheelDrive, a very cool hiking site, turned me on to this teacher in-service day conducted near home recently. It was based on a rising movement called No Child Left Inside (obviously a play on words–the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001), growing largely out of the book Last Child in the Woods by Richard Louv. One of the attendees and presenters took the time to get together and conduct an interview. She is a qualified child psychologist who strongly advocates for getting kids out into nature, wilderness. Check it out and understand why Erin and I will be taking Maggie ‘out there’ as often as possible.
