Where’s the baby fat?

We’ve been a little concerned lately over Maggie’s skinniness. She not sickly looking or anything but she definitely is a twig. So, one day last week, Erin took her to the doctor. She weighed in at 16lbs 11oz and measured 28″ (she turned 10 mos. on the 15th for those of you not keeping score). According to the charts the doc used, that put her in the 10th percentile for weight and somewhere around the 25th percentile for height. One needs the charts as a frame of reference (without them, the raw numbers don’t mean a lot) but they can kind of worry people if their child falls anywhere else but in the middle. Erin and I have been talking about it and we can’t decide if they indicate how things should be, i.e. a prescribed healthy weight and height, or if they are telling how things are, i.e. kids are weighing more and more every year, just like their parents. A book we have places Maggie right in the middle and points to her being right where she should be. I guess the deciding factor is what the doctor said: she indicated that the Nugget is just fine, just a little on smallish side.

That is where Lauren has always fallen on the chart since birth. Ryan always a bit more average at or arround 40%for weight and 50% for height acording to the chart. I think Maggie is just perfect and I love the new pictures. I cant believe she’s almost ONE.
remember jason, i was always in the same percentile as maggie is, im sure she will be just fine. still havent heard for sure about my leave but hopefully i will be there for her birthday…
