Sweet dreams sweet girl!

On January 2nd, after 9 1/2 months of night wakings and feedings, Maggie & I decided it was time to learn how to sleep through the night. I was ready & Maggie was too. The first three nights went better than I expected with her waking up two times each night. Since those first nights she has slept through the night!
I had forgotten what it was like to get a good night’s sleep. It has been over a year since I slept 10 hours straight & wow does it feel good! Jason and I tried numerous times over the past 9 months to get Maggie to sleep through the night but had no luck. She would cry for hours and we just couldn’t take it. I knew this time would be different because she is a little older and when she would wake up at night all it took was a quick feed or a soft pat on the back and she would go back to sleep.
I have read many books and articles and talked to people about how to get baby to sleep through the night. From other folks knowledge & my own personal experience with Maggie, I have come to a couple conclusions about getting a baby to sleep for extended periods of time. First, mom and baby need to be ready to sleep through the night without each other. Second, I believe that parents need to watch for signs that baby is ready to sleep on his/her own. Every baby and parent is different so it really all comes down to knowing yourself as a parent, knowing your child and predicting his/her responses.
The Sandman finally visited our humble abode!
