Routine, routine

Maggie keeps me busy night and day. She wakes up every 45-120 minutes at night. I would like to think there is an underlying cause to her nightwaking but I’m pretty sure it is just a habit. For most nights she has a good solid pattern of waking up. Usually about an hour after she goes to bed, then an hour later, then maybe 2 hours, then 45 minutes, 45 minutes, 2 hours, 1 hour, 1 hour. Ugh! Sometimes she wakes up between 2:30 - 4:30am wanting to play. Lucky for me this has not happened recently.

Maggie moves all day long. The only relief I get is when she is in her highchair eating/playing with her food. She usually gets me up between 5:00 - 6:00am. Yes, that early. I stumble out into the kitchen to make my decaf coffee. I pretend my coffee is leaded and it tricks me enough that I perk up about 5 minutes after awakening. Jason visits with Maggie for about 15 minutes before he is off to work. I usually let Maggie play a little before we eat. She is eating little peices of food, basically what ever Jason and I are eating. She has had banana, french toast, toasted cheese, spaghetti, chicken, beef, green beans, egg yoke pancakes, brocoli, mash potatos and pizza crust. I am sure she has had more but those are the ones in my recent memory. I give her peices of banana or an egg yoke to keep her busy while I make my breakfast and her avocado rice cereal. Maggie has an icecube size piece of mashed avocado in her cereal everyday. I usually buy two avocados, mash them, put the mash into an icecube try, freeze it and then into a ziplock for longterm storage. Avocados are one of the best brain foods that exist.

The rest of the day breezes by between me chasing after Maggie (she’s a fast crawler), feeding her, nap time and playtime. She has started bouncing to music. She has a stand up toy piano that she loves to play and when not being a pianist, she is banging on her little drum that plays songs in both Spanish and English. She is uninterested in TV although I do try to get her to watch a little Dora the Explorer so she can get comfortable hearing Spanish words. I’ve gotten hooked on the FOOD Network. Probably not the best choice of channels to get addicted to; FIT TV would probably be a better choice for me right now. The personal trainer thing didn’t work out. Maggie cryed at daycare, all the other mothers complained and we can’t go back until Maggie gets more comfortable with strangers.

Jason get home about 5:00pm but has worked as late as 9:00pm. I make dinner and Jason watches Maggie. The night flys by and we start out nightime routine all over again!

Yes, her two top teeth have come through this last week. I wish it was just the teething thing. Her sleep issues have gone on since she was born. I guess the good thing is she doesn’t act sleep deprived during the day.
