(Not quite) First impressions

As some of you know, I have to complete some training before heading out to ID. This training is being conducted in the wonderful city of Montgomery, AL. I only got here a half day ago but I have already reached the conclusion that it is a dreadful place. Of course, some of that has to do with my preconceived notions of it. It’s not as bad as the Biloxi-Gulfport, MS area (sorry, M & A) where I’ve spent about four months also in training, but that’s only because Mont. has a larger population who will spend their dollars at places like Panera Bread and Books-A-Million.

It’s also very hot and humid here, two things which, in combination, are attributes that routinely destroy me. I am really hoping that as September rolls on and October approaches, they will dissapiate.

Another thing about being here is the time zone difference. I have never even been west of the Mississippi River except J & J’s wedding Las Vegas and a week in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, so the whole different clock thing has me a little out of whack. My guess on how it works is that everything pretty much functions normally (e.g. if you would come into work at 8am on the East Coast, you do the same in some other time zone), except for television programs. Instead of 60 Minutes being on at 7pm, it’s on here at 6pm. It’s really kind of strange. I don’t really know how to get used to it.

jason if you think one hour is bad wait til you get out my way you will then be two hours behind what you are used to but im sure that you will be just fine. since you are driving out it shouldnt affect you to much at least it didnt when i drove out last year. i still havent figured out the tv show thing at least the football games will be over at a “reasonable hour” as mom would say….
