A zoo, a tooth and the missing organics

A night in a small room with a 13lb 5 1/2 month old baby, a 75lb dog, a 16lb cat and a 10lb cat can only be described as one thing, a zoo. Maggie cried 4 times last night and each time I got up to tend to her needs I recieved a hiss from the fat cat and a squeal from the dog becuase I stepped on his tail. In addition, the little cat seemed to think that she attention each time Maggie cried so I had to give her love too.

Maggie is starting to get her first tooth. I can’t believe it - no more toothless grins. Kind of sad but also exciting becuase she is starting her journey to eating real foods. I noticed it 2 days ago. At first I thought it might be a canker sore. Jason and i took her to Hooters before we left and Maggie grabbed a spicy chicken wing from Jason’s plate and shoved it in her mouth. But today, alas, i can be sure it is not a canker sore. I see a little white dot appearing from her lower front right gum line. She is also drooling and eating my shirt.

I went grocery shopping with my parents yesterday and felt so unsatified. For the past year the only place I have shopped is the local organic supermarket. Going back into the regular supermarket and shopping is much more difficult than I could have ever predicted. All the foods I normally eat pretty much doesn’t exist down here. It is definately an adjustment. The most rediculous thing is that the regular non-organic food prices here in Florida are just as expensive as the organic food prices in Asheville. I think I might go in search of a whole foods store in the area today. Okay, I’ll admit it, I’m an organic food eating snob. I guess it could be worse?
